So you're looking to adopt? Wonderful! Here are some important pieces of information:

• Cats and kittens are both adopted out at $175 each. This helps us to recover the costs of getting cats adoption ready.
• All cats will have already been fixed, gotten their FVRCP shot(s), have been tested for FiV and FeLV, and are microchipped.
• Not all cats will have gotten their rabies shot and this is only in the event that a kitten was not old enough or big enough.

Once that has been done, one of our adoption coordinators and/or counselors will reach out to you. Please allow for up to 3 business days before reaching out for follow-up. We are all unpaid volunteers and are typically balancing a 40+ hour work week, home life, and rescue volunteering.

After you have been in contact with the adoption coordinator, they will explain all of the next steps. Typically, they will set up a meet and greet with you and the cat(s) you are interested in at one of our PetSmart Charities adoption centers (Tempe Marketplace or Chandler Blvd/101) and if there is a match you can finalize the adoption right then and there.

Bear in mind that PetSmart requires all cats to leave the store in a carrier. If you already own a carrier, please bring it along just in case. If you need to purchase one, hold off until you've decided to adopt because you will be receiving a coupon book from PetSmart that includes a $5 off coupon for their Great Choice hard carrier. We want to be sure you have the opportunity to take advantage of that coupon if you need to buy a carrier anyway!

At the meet and greet, you will be able to interact with the cat(s) you are interested in. If you wish to proceed, paperwork will be filled out and the adoption fee will be taken at that time. The adoption counselor will have all sorts of information for you and is an excellent person to ask questions of! They have been doing this for a long time and may have tips and tricks that have worked for them personally as well as from the stories they've gotten from other adopters and/or people in the rescue.
